Route Announced

At the Launch Party last Sunday, we finally let the cat out of the bag- and announced that this year’s route will end at Teignmouth, Devon.

The full routes- the D (Direct) route and the Z (Zig Zag) route- both start at the Landmark, Ilfracombe; ride together until Barnstaple where they split and head off on different routes to the first stop at Libbaton Golf Course. They split again on the road to the Lunch time stop at North Tawton Rugby Club.

The two groups go on different routes again before arriving at the afternoon stop at Bovey Tracey, then join together for the final amazing 10 miles to finish at The Den, Teignmouth at 5pm.

The stopping patterns have changed as well. Feedback from the 2007 ride was the stops were too irregular and frequent- so this year, we have made 3 stops- morning, dinnertime and afternoon. The two groups will start together, use the same stops, and ride the last 10 miles together- it’s the bits in between that vary.

This will enable riders to choose the speed they want, and be able to switch groups at each stop to ensure they get what they want to get from the ride. And as each stop has a clear departure time, if you want to ride on to the next stop, you can- if you want to potter along slowly, then you can- it just means that the break will alter in length. This will enable us to focus on the social spirit of the ride.

And the last 10 miles are just amazing. The valley from Bovey Tracey takes in amazing countryside, and the ride into Teignmouth along side the Teign is one you will remember for years to come.

We really believe that this year’s route and set up is one that you will love, and we are very excited about it- we know that you will agree with us.

Wow- what a lot has gone on this month! The ride is looking amazing, with the start now at The Landmark Theatre, Ilfracombe; the mid day stop is at the great location of North Tawton Rugby Club (you just wait- trust us on this one!)—and the last 10 miles- well, you will see!
