Devon Coast to Coast Challenge Newsletter Number 8

Welcome to the latest newsletter.

As autumn arrives here in North Devon, and we all start to think about longer Sunday rides to make up for the lack of riding during the week, this is a great time to reflect on what went on back in July.

We are coming to the final figures for this years ride- approximately £7500. Because we all rode through the wind and rain, the children's Hospice have been able to real things to help the children there- and their families- enjoy the precious time left for them together.

How cool is that!

Let's get going with this newsletter- this month entitled 'the leaves are falling and I am staying in bed'.

Funds Raised

The Just giving website has now closed, with the 2 months passing since the ride. This gives us a great chance to look at the monies raised.

As always with these type of events, it is hard to be exact. I know that people have told me that they have given £6800 to the hospice. The just giving website saw over £1000 come in, with an additional £280 tax relief.

Obviously, there has been some overlap with the donations and the just giving website- with this in mind, so far the ride will in round figures terms have raised £7500.

On behalf of myself, the other organisers, and especially the Children's Hospice South West, thank you very much. It's amazing to be part of something this cool.

Committee Members

It will not be long before the committee meetings will start for the 2008 ride. This is where we shape and decide what you folks will be doing next year- any route changes, stops and group sizes.

We also drink a lot of beer, eat pork scratching's, and watch dodgy clips on our our phones.

As we have seen over the last 2 rides, the way this ride will grow is new blood, new opinions. We all then go off with a couple things to do/ think about/ steel, and then come back a couple weeks later.
